Lockdown Effective as from 10th March 2021

Dear Team

The government has just announced that Mauritius will be going into lockdown from 6am tomorrow until the 26th of March.

Only essential services will operate tomorrow. This includes health services, pharmacies and online deliveries. Nothing was announced regarding vaccination centres, so it is unclear if these will be open.

From Thursday, supermarkets, bakeries, banks, etc. will operate but access will be in alphabetical order based on your surname:

A to F: Monday and Thursday

G to N: Tuesday and Friday

O to Z: Wednesday and Saturday

We will share more details as they become available, but we anticipate that this will be similar to the lockdown last year, in that we will be allowed to leave home in order to get groceries and medication. Be sure to take a mask, gloves and your ID. Children will likely not be permitted in supermarkets. Other than leaving for essential activities, we should remain at home to play our part in reducing community spread - even the beaches, sadly, are out of bounds.

For frequently updated information, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has a Facebook page and the Mauritius in quarantine Facebook page is very active.

As we go into this lockdown, please remember to be kind to yourself and to stay connected to your team and your family.

In terms of our students, Jeremy, Cedric and team are working hard - along with our service providers - to ensure that all necessary protocols are in place on campus. They are also reaching out to students that are off campus to ensure that they are supported.

Don't hesitate to reach out at any time to peopleops@alueducation.com should you have any questions or concerns.

Stay healthy and stay connected.

Danny
